SAFE PLACE TO TALK

Confidentiality, Curiosity and an Elevation of Your Voice

Key to this process of our work together is creating a safe environment to share, challenge and invite change.  Confidentiality is an ethical principle with any psychological service and your right to privacy is central in my practice. I take every effort to safeguard the privacy of individuals in the collection, use, storage, and disclosure of personal information. More detailed information on confidentiality can be found on my consent form given to clients at the onset of counselling (click here for the Regular Consent Form and click here for the Equine Wellness Consent Form). Please feel free to review it and ask me any questions you may have.

In addition to this, I work hard to cultivate conversations that invite an overall respect for the people I work with.  Many people reaching out for counselling have encountered judgement from those around them in relation to their specific struggles.  I endeavour to work from a place of curiosity where we will explore what fuels particular problems in your life.  Because of my orientation, I understand these problems as invited within patterns in relationship, contextual/cultural influences in combination with our own personal ways of being.  We work together to better understand how problems gain power within your particular context and how we can move towards solutions that fit your preferred goals.  In this process my goal is to have curiosity replace judgement and your voice replace outside external voices that sometimes rob us of our own confidence.

In my experience, confidentiality, curiosity and the elevation of your voice or understanding work to cultivate this safety.
